The European Product Design Award is an international design competition recognizing outstanding product design across industries. They’ve received submissions from nearly 100 countries.

A new identity for an existing table

OM is a flexible cover system for Optima conference tables. By adding a new, sculptural expression to the table, OM gives existing furniture a new identity without replacing the entire table.

The concept creates new possibilities for materiality and form, while extending the product’s lifespan and reducing the need to produce new furniture. OM demonstrates how design and sustainability can come together in the development of flexible workspaces.

Developed in collaboration

OM was developed in close collaboration between the designers PetterssonRudberg and Svenheim’s Product Development team. The long-term collaboration brings together design, innovation, production expertise and sustainability in one concept.

OM was presented in several different variations at Skoyen Designfestival in Oslo this September, where the concept received a very positive response.

The three EPDA recognitions are an important acknowledgement of the work behind OM – from the initial concept and design process to product development and production at Svenheim.

Next stop: Venice
